Types of Collections
Choosing the right type of collection can sometimes be daunting especially when you are new to Karri, but don’t worry, Karri has tried to condense the number of collection types to ensure that setup is simple and fast.
Fixed amount
Choose this if you are collecting a fixed amount from each member.
Input the amount to be collected, Karri will automatically calculate the nett amount collected that will be paid to your organization based on the amount and the applicable fee rate.
Examples: Civvies day, locker payments, pyjama days, cake days, dance show, sports tours.
Variable amount
Choose this if you want the member (or subscriber) to pay an amount of their choosing.
You can specify a Minimum amount
to reduce the number of small payments which incur higher fees.
You can specify a Maximum amount
to ensure there is an upper limit to the payment.
Suggested amounts
allows you to select which numbers to present the user for quick selection. The user will always be able to change the amount should they want to.
Examples: Building fund contributions, birthday gifts, staff funds, animal rescue donations.
Consider using the Donation Style option if the collection is for a fundraiser as it changes the Pay Now
button to Donate
which is a lot friendlier!
Amount per item
Choose this if you’re offering a single item (product) and allow users to purchase multiple of them.
Input the amount to be collected per item, input or select the label you want to use (keep it short).
Karri will automatically calculate the nett amount collected that will be paid to your organization based on the amount and the applicable fee rate.
When the collection appears on the app, the user will be able to enter in the quantity they want or select from one of the quick buttons.
Examples: Concert tickets, book purchases, Matric Dance tickets, Mother’s Day tea, hotdogs.
If you have more than one item on offer, use a Shopping List instead.
Custom amounts
Choose this if the amount is fixed but different per member in the collection.
You have two ways to set the amounts per member, you can specify them in a file to import at this stage or via the Collection Manager, OR you can set them via the Collection Manager screen.
More on this in Managing Custom Amount Collections
Examples: Library fines, parking fines, balance of fees, fees due (where at least one amount is different to the rest), outstanding school expenses.
Shopping list
Choose this if you have more than one item on offer.
This requires a bit more effort than setting up an item collection. First you have to create the shopping list and only then will it appear in the list of shopping lists that can be associated with the collection.
Examples: Clothing shop, stationery orders, lunch orders.
Attendance
Choose this if you don’t need the users to pay you anything, i.e. if all you need is a Yes
or No
response.
Examples: Attendance at meetings, school trips (no cost).
Attendance collections are a simple way to distribute agreements (e.g. permission slips) as they have to be accepted before the YES/NO answer can be given. See Agreements.
