Managing Collection Privacy

Collection Privacy settings determine who, if anyone is able to join and pay for your collection over and above the members, staff and other Karri users you may have invited to the collection.

There are three levels of privacy that can be set for a collection:

  1. Private - this is the default for all collections. When a collection is private, no one is able to join your collection, however you are still able to invite your members, staff, and other Karri Users to the collection using the item in the Actions menu when viewing your collection.

  2. Limited - When a collection has a privacy set to this level, only your members, their subscribers and your staff can join and pay for the collection on their own. As usual, you can still invite users to your collection using the Action menu.

  3. Public - This setting allow any Karri User to join and pay for your collection on their own. As per the Limited setting, you are still able to invite users to your collection using the Actions menu.

You can switch between these setting any time by editing the collection and selecting the appropriate privacy setting.

After setting the privacy level, a relevant indicator will be added to the view of your collection. In the case of a Limited and Public collection, there will also be a button to display a QR Code for the collection. These are shown below.

Collection QR Code

When a collection is Limited or Public, it will have a QR code associated with it. A QR code is a type of barcode that represents your collection.

The QR code is unique to your collection and will remain unchanged for the duration of your collection, and beyond. Even if your collection is reopened, the QR code remains unchanged. However, if a collection is cloned, the cloned collection will be issues with a new QR code.

If you click the QR code button displayed in the above images, you will be shown your unique QR code for the collection. You can download and distribute the image in any form that makes sense to you: post it on Facebook, Twitter, in your newsletter, email it, or even make a poster of it.

Karri users with the most up to date app installed can use the app to simply scan the QR code. If the Karri user meets the privacy level set on your collection, scanning the code will join them to the collection, and they can then simply pay for the collection without needing to be invited first.

Note: A QR Code is active from the moment the collection is created, so this means that it is active even before the collection is open. Because of this, you don’t have to wait for the collection to be opened before you prepare your distribution of the code. However, if the code is scanned in the app before the collection is open an error will be returned to to the user.
